Waldman (no first name given) is a fictional character who appears in Mary Shelley's 1818 novel, Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus and in its subsequent film versions. He is a professor at Ingolstadt University who specializes in chemistry and is a mentor of Victor Frankenstein, who describes Waldman as short, but erect, with "the sweetest voice I had ever heard." Professors Waldman and Krempe are the primary role models in Victor's quest to master science.
Frankenstein (1931)[]

Doctor Waldman is a teacher of anatomy at the medical college in Henry Frankenstein's hometown. Frankenstein sends his assistant Fritz to steal a brain from Waldman's classroom, in order to enliven the Creature which Frankenstein is building. Waldman later informs Frankenstein that the brain, which Fritz stole, came from a criminal.
When Frankenstein determines that the Creature is too dangerous to be allowed into the world and must be destroyed, Waldman agrees to be the one to euthanize the Creature. He fails to sedate the creature completely, and is strangled to death by the Creature.
