Lawrence Stewart "Larry" Talbot, also known as The Wolf Man, is a fictional character created by Curt Siodmak for the 1941 Universal Pictures film The Wolf Man, as part of the Universal Classic Monsters ensemble. Talbot was portrayed by Lon Chaney Jr.
While the original film was unconnected to any other monster, the sequel Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943) folded the Wolf Man character arc into the Frankenstein franchise by having Talbot meet the descendants of Henry Frankenstein and face off against Frankenstein's Monster. Chaney reprised the role of Talbot in House of Frankenstein (1944), House of Dracula (1945), and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948), all of which also featured both Frankenstein's Monster and Count Dracula.
In The Wolf Man (2010), Talbot is portrayed by Benicio del Toro. That film was a standalone with no connections to other monsters.
Unlike Frankenstein and Dracula, who were drawn from 19th-century novels, the Talbot character was created from whole cloth by the Universal films.
