
Henry Clerval is a fictional character who is Victor Frankenstein's best friend in Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus. In the 1931 film, Henry Frankenstein's friend Victor Moritz (whose surname is taken from the unrelated character Justine Moritz) takes his place. In the story Henry serves as one of Victor’s closest allies and friends, but is unfortunately strangled and killed by the Monster in Ireland in revenge for Victor not keeping his promise to creating him a bride.

In the 1994 film, Henry is played by Tom Hulce and unlike the book survives the whole story without ever meeting Victor’s creation.
